Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth cover

First, I’d like to thank you for granting us at X-Men Nation this interview.  It's really a pleasure, for me personally, to interview the writer working on my favorite character's book.  ow you did you find your way into the comic industry? Do you mind sharing a little about your background and how you came to write Deadpool?

I'd been writing novels in the hardboiled crime, sci-fi genres, and I hooked up with an agent (David Hale Smith) who also handles comic book writers.  I let him know that it would be pretty cool to break into comic book writing.  He started putting my name out there, and about a year later I found myself on the phone with Axel Alonso at marvel.

Astonishing X-Men #32

Astonishing X-Men #32 cover

Issue 32 finds the X-Men continuing their battle with the “organic” sentinel.  We’re also treated to the return of The Brood.  The battle wages on in the streets of San Francisco until an unlikely hero ends it for good.  Afterwards, Abigail Brand lays quite a shocker on the X-Men and we’re left with yet another cliff hanger ending.

Ellis’ writing continues to shine in this new arc.  After plodding through “Ghost Box”, it seems he’s finally hit the mark.  The character writing is spot-on and in my opinion, this arc should finally get X-fans to stop mourning the loss of Whedon on the title and embrace Ellis as the full-time writer of Astonishing.

Deadpool: The Merc Who's Over Exposed?

Deadpool with Domino and Emma Frost

Deadpool:  The Merc With a Mouth, The Crimson Comedian, Wade Wilson.  As of late, it seems that he is getting the "Wolverine" treatment.  Wade is showing up in numerous books a month and at this point, it doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon.  Yet another monthly book has been announced and follows Deadpool's adventures teaming up with various characters from throughout the Marvel Universe.  Following the success of the Wolverine movie, he's even slated to star in his own movie!  Where will it end for the Merc With a Mouth?  Is he being overexposed to the point where fans will soon start to despise him?

House of M Review

Pietro and Wanda Maximoff on the cover of House of M #7 What would the world be like if everyone got to live the life they really wanted?  That's what "House of M" explores as we see the most famous of the Marvel Universe living the life that they truly want.  Wanda Maximoff, arguably the most powerful mutant in the world, has the ability to change reality with just a blink of the eye.  After accidentally killing some of her Avengers team mates, Wanda has an even harder time controlling her unbelievable powers.  The Avengers and X-Men have a difficult choice to make, do they let Wanda live and possibly have her destroy the world or do they kill her and save the world from possible destruction.  This moral choice that they face is the basis for the story and helps shine light on certain characters and their personalities.

X-Force:Old Ghosts Review

Being an aspiring writer and having read comics for as long as I can remember, I couldn't resist the opportunity to write reviews for the best X-Men fansite around, X-Men Nation.

Old Ghosts collects X-Force issues 7-11.  As we all know, X-Force is Cyclop's "Black Ops" team, doing the missions that the normal X-Men can't or won't do.  Mutants don't kill, but the X-Force sure does.  In this TPB, we see an addition to the X-Force team, Domino.  Wolverine recruits her to help out on the mission where X-Force is tasked with finding The Vanisher, who has stolen a vile of the deadly Legacy Virus.  The mission of attaining the Legacy Virus is the main plot point in this arc and makes for an exciting read.  We are also treated to a side story that follows Warpath's voyage back to his native land and his battle with a demon soul.
