Jason Aaron continues to impress with his well rounded knowledge of drama continues as we near the end of the “Insane in the Brain” story arc. This issue delves deeper into the mystique of Dr.Rot who seems very intrigued by the violent and animalistic nature of Wolverine. We discover early on that he has been attempting to control Logan’s mind. (which if any of you read House of M will know is very difficult) In the end it appears that Aaron is going divulging in the typical “Wolverine’s going to be brainwashed again” storyline, however he manages to put an interesting twist to this plot.
One of the selling points of this series has been the very talented artwork which is once again showcased. While bordering on the simply grotesque, Wolverine Weapon X delivers again with another visually stimulating (to say the least) issue. The dark and quite frankly, eerie setting of the hospital is fully fleshed out here as we finally see the bowels of the Dunwich Sanatorium. I feel as if this team of artists is well suited for a dark and gritty Wolverine book and to be honest, readers will find that it actually feels like a graphic novel. Couple this with the extremely risqué dialog, and you’ve got yourself something you don’t want the kiddies to read.
After reading this issue I’m now at the head of the bandwagon and taking ticket stubs for Wolverine Weapon X. This issue has actually been more about story, and villain development than the mutant MVP impaling things. Wolverine fans appreciate this and while I’m sure the next issue will be a bit more “action packed” the disturbing imagery and gritty sinister feel to the title is one that Wolverine as a character: can flourish in. This is the second to last issue in this arc so if you aren’t caught up on this title this wouldn’t be a bad to time to jump in. Head out to your local shop and pick it up.

Alright fans issue 8 is out and it looks like Logan has remembered who and what he is. When we last saw Wolverine he’d been tormented to release his berserker rage by the mysterious Dr.Rot. If anybody has ever fallowed Wolverine I’m sure they’ve got one piece of advice for the dear doctor, “get out of Logans way. “
